| We needed to transfer quickly, but did not have a company buyout. To save some money, we tried to sell our home by owner for three weeks - after being told by everyone that the market was so good the house would sell very quickly. We got two offers within days of being on the market. Unfortunately, getting the first buyer (who offered us more money) to actually write the offer was a challenge. After six days of waiting for the offer from his attorney, we decided to go with the other buyer. The second buyer never gave us the earnest money that he promised after the home inspection was completed. It took another week to get out of that contract. We finally decided to go ahead and pay a commission to an agent. Sandie Mitchell was referred to us by some friends who had sold their home with her help, but we also felt the need to interview 2 other agents. We decided on Sandie immediately, mainly because she didn't go on and on about what a great agent she was, and she didn't just "talk" about what she would do to help us, she put everything in writing.
